Some names are well known while others, despite their contributions to the decades-long evolution of the instrument, languish in obscurity, known only to guitar geeks and obsessives.Īnd while there have been many occasions when pundits declared that rock (and by extension, the tools to make this music) is dead, the electric guitar has proven to be extremely adaptable and has (at least so far) been able to take on all comers, especially when placed in the hands of radicals and rulebreakers. Its history is a complicated one, involving musicians, inventors, tinkerers, happy accidents, big multinational companies, and lone wolves. Had it not been for the electric guitar, rock, initially considered a musical fad, probably wouldn’t have survived the 1950s. And it opened the doors to new types of creativity. It’s a vehicle for freedom of expression. That sound, with all its power, distortion, and infinitely diverse tonalities, can still drive music fans into ecstasy.įor many, the electric guitar is a symbol of rebellion and liberation. And central to this was the electric guitar. ![]() Initially driven by young Baby Boomers, rock grew bigger and stronger, eclipsing all other genres. It was a massive cultural force that spread around the globe. Together, the ladies share whether or not new music from each is on the horizon.In assessing the popular music of the last half of the 20th century, rock music was undeniably king. Shamari Devoe, dishes on an on-going venture that she and her husband Ronnie DeVoe, (singer from New Edition and BellBivDeVoe) have developed. In our exclusive interview she details some of the qualities she needs in a partner. In a joint interview with Shamari DeVoe and Nivea, MusicXclusives delved into topics such as what vocal role the two songstresses would play in the group. With entertainment at every turn, the ladies share there is more to see. Irish, said the ladies “…need to learn class and humility.” Together, they agreed in sentiment that they know who they are while others still may have something to prove. 702’s debut album was certified Gold and their second album went Platinum. Fallon and Felisha came for the ladies by calling them “aunties” and stating that the singing group looked like it was for the “geriatrics.” LeMisha stated that 702 has had success in achieving what few female groups have been able to accomplish. Okay Our girl Nivea showed up and showed OWT at The Encore watch party at Members Only Lounge in Atlanta where she served top-tier thigh meats as the star of the buzzy new BET show.
